Welcome to our School!
(Year-round Open Enrollment)

About our Curriculum:

Our curriculum centers around art, music, math, science, and nature. We are academic based in a home-like setting. Our mission is to provide a variety of experiences and opportunities to learn, create, and discover the world around us. We teach basic skills of reading, writing, math, and science in a developmentally appropriate way. Our teachers challenge and reinforce each stage of development to create habits of independent thinking, a positive self-image, attitudes of social cooperation and moral responsibility. We foster an appreciation for uniqueness and differences in personalities, abilities, and appearances. Children learn by observing both teachers and other children. Our primary goal is to prepare our children to develop to their full potential as thinking, feeling human beings. Although our school appears informal, the program and environment are the result of careful planning.

We offer three Programs at New World -Walnut Creek:

* Tigers class: for children two to three and a half years old. This is mostly a social class where children learn to get along, share and enjoy each other. We do teach basic academics such as letter- sound recognition, number recognition and counting, and shapes and colors. Children are assessed all year round, with two reports going home mid and end of school year.

* Preschool Lions Class: for children three and a half years old by September, and after the teachers assessment. This a beginning range academic class geared to prepare children to enter Pre-Kindergarten.  Age appropriate class activities include introductions to a more structured environment in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Science concepts and phonics are introduced, while still providing social self-directed activities. Assessments are done throughout the year to track their progress, with two written reports going home mid and end of the school year.
Children need to be completely toilet trained.

* Pre-Kindergarten Bears class: for children entering Kindergarten the next fall. Children are prepared to challenge themselves in a structured, fun and relaxed atmosphere. The learn to focus, discover, and reason, often in group situations that require cooperation and problem-solving skills.  Advanced levels of self-directed activities are provided to help prepare for large classroom settings offered in Kindergarten classrooms. Assessments are done throughout the year to track their progress, with an end of the year assessment to determine their Kindergarten readiness.

Our Caring Staff:

We are committed to maintaining a highly motivated staff of certified teachers to love, nuture, and teach your child. We provide children with the healthy environment needed for optimal growth and discovery. We maintain the state guideline of twelve children (or less) to one teacher ratio in our Pre-K classes, and eight children (or less) to one in our toddler classes. All teachers are fully qualified and CPR trained. Many hold teaching permits.

What is the news?

Great news!! Soccer Shots is back for our new school year. They come every Wednesday morning! Besides teaching soccer skills, they also work on improving attention, balance, coordination and agility with the kids. The children also learn important concepts like teamwork, sharing and respect for others. This is an extra-curricular class, not included in tuition.

Ya-lan Gross, who is an arts teacher, is also coming in on Wednesday afternoons to teach our children about different media. She also teaches classes on Saturday morning. Please contact us if you would like more information about either programs.
